Albanian term or phrase: përfundimisht (here)
I don't understand the word përfundimisht in this context. I can't be "i formës së prerë" because we haven't reached that stage yet, it's from the lawyer requesting the appeal.

>>Gjykatës së Shkallës së Parë është vendosur deklarimi fajtor për të pandehurin N.N. për veprën pënale të parashikuar nga neni 1... K. Penal dhe dënimi i tij përfundimisht me dy vjet burgim

final

Explanation:
It has a different meaning here, and definitively NOT "i formës së prerë".

As far as I understand from the context, it is literaslly used as "final judgement" given by the First Instance Court.

Asker: I wonder why Proz.com won't let me start a discussion. Too late? Workaround: sending the same "note to answerer" to all of you - I still wonder about përfundimisht. Gjykata e shkallës së parë can't issue a final or an ultimate decision, that's for the Appeals Court or Supreme Court.

final decision

Explanation:
Jam dakort me sugjerimin e Iliana2010 në përkthimin e fjalës përfundimisht në final por nuk do të përdorja final judgement.

Përkthim të mbarë!

final sentence OR final punishment

Explanation:
I think that the (final) decision/judgment apply to ....është vendosur deklarimi fajtor ... Here I would use the term "verdict" instead of the words decision or judgment as in..

declared a verdict of guilty....

////////////////////////
SENTENCE ..applies to the punishment (dënimi) imposed by the court....as in
"...dënimi i tij përfundimisht me dy vjet burgim...":

1) n. the punishment given to a person convicted of a crime. A sentence is ordered by the judge, based on the verdict of the jury (or the judge's decision if there is no jury) within the possible punishments set by state law (or federal law in convictions for a federal crime).

Also the phrase...FINAL PUNISHMENT could be OK

The phrase "final punishment" is also used quite widely... SEE:

However my preference would be to use the word "sentence"....as in:

....was sentenced to two years of imprisonment...

ultimately

Explanation:
My understanding of the context is that, rather than the technical legality of a "final ruling", the word "përfundimisht" expresses the anticipation or expectation of what's to ultimately come as passing of a sentence. Therefore, I would translate this as "ultimate sentencing to two years' imprisonment" (note the adjustment of word class required for this rendering of the phrase).

Example sentence(s):
  • "...was ultimately sentenced to an overall period of imprisonment of three years,..."
