Totaly stuck on this one. I have no idea what they mean. My translation is surely wrong.

Is "com poc afortunat" possibly a turn of phrase?

Un bon exemple d'aquesta tendència el trobem a l'Església catòlica, que funciona com una organització amb una nítida diferència entre jerarquia i poble cristià, clergues i laics, Església docent i Església discent o, per dir-ho amb el símil tan repetit ** com poc afortunat dels documents eclesiàstics **, entre pastors i ramat."

My rough draft:

"A good example of this trend is found in the Catholic Church, which as an organisation operates with a marked divergence between the church hierarchy and the Christian populace, the clergymen and the laymen, the Church as teacher and the Church as student, or to put it with the oft-repeated comparison, ** unluckily drawn from ecclesiastical documents**, between the pastor and his flock"

It basically means the simile is out of date and overused. Most people, even the faithful, don't really like being considered "ramat" these days while the shepherd, good or not lays down the law. Ramat is a herd or flock. Documents eclesiàstics are simply scriptures, writings…
