pallets, storage 14:09 Sep 29, 2012
In warehouses, when contamination takes place, it can involve millions of euros/dollars, whatever, the responsible party has to be found, and that means that analyses by firms such as TNO has to be carried out to see where the contamination started, and to determine whether other products were contaminated in the warehouse because they were stacked close to one or more contaminated pallets (cross-contamination).
I did a translation involving exactly this, involving millions, but as the buyer here in the Netherlands was earning lots of money, when it was ascertained that the contamination of a batch of milk powder from Poland had started in Polnd the Dutch buyer, in order to keep things pleasant and keep business running, let it go, and made a deal, thus not penalising the Polish firm, they did this as a token of their goodwill, even though it cost them money, they knew in the long-run it would cost them more if they went to town on the Polish firm, and instead, they made a deal to help the Polish firm update/modernise its processing, storage and packaging systems to ensure that the firm could meet the expected European standards. |
