Dutch term or phrase: Gebroken functie
This is from a maths exam so there is no real context, just equations.
Just as a guide the exam question is:
Toon langs algebraïsche weg aan dat de toppen inderdaad op een hyperbool
met vergelijking xy=c liggen en bereken de waarde van c.
Is it as simple as "Broken function"? Discontinuous function or hyperbolic function perhaps.
All ideas appreciated. Thanks

Gebroken functie --> Een functie waarbij de variabele onder de breukstreep staat. De grafieken die eruit komen heten hyperbolen, en bestaan uit 2 takken. X = 0 hoort niet bij het domein.

Explanation:
"An example of a discontinuous function is the function f defined by f(x) = 1 if x > 0, f(x) = 0 if x ≤ 0."

"Question : Give an example of a function with at least one removable and one non-removable discontinuity (that has not been discussed in any lesson). Explain where the discontinuities occur and provide a justification for your reasoning. You may use a graph of the function to help explain your answers.

Answer : Let f(x) = (x - 1)/[x(x - 1)]. f has a removable discontinuity at x = 1 (by taking limits, we may 'remove' this discontinuity by setting f(1) = 1). Since f has a vertical asymptote at x = 0, this forms a removable discontinuity at x = 0 for f. Otherwise, f is continuous. (Essentially, this is the standard rectangular hyperbola y = 1/x with a removable singularity inserted at x = 1.) I hope that helps!"
