2016年前后，这个颁布于2010年的通知被有关部门应用于游戏审核，国内游戏公司迅速做出响应。印象中，腾讯的几款游戏是最先响应国家的命令的，其中就包括BOSS的翻译，腾讯给出的答案是：BOSS=首领，后来也有把BOSS翻译成“头目”的。虽然也有根据世界观把BOSS叫“妖王”、“恶首”之类的，但比较多见的还是叫“首领”、“头目”（然而玩家还是习惯叫BOSS）
