English term or phrase: Sequential Forward Floating Selection
Our team is working on this very dense statistical document. We are unable to find any commonly-accepted translation for this term. Our plan is to leave it in English, as some other terms have (k-folds) and use the acronym, but we'd like to provide an approximate French translation at least once. Has anyone used or seen this term in French or can suggest a good translation based on the description?

The algorithm that was selected is called Sequential Forward Floating Selection (SFFS). It operates as follows: 1) starting with no features, add the feature that improves performance the most; 2) check if dropping any feature currently in the set improves performance; and then 3) repeat.

That is from the text. Also found this definition of SFFS: Sequential floating forward selection (SFFS) starts from the empty set. After each forward step, SFFS performs backward steps as long as the objective function increases. Sequential floating backward selection (SFBS) starts from the full set.
