「衝突などで船体水線下に破孔が生じたときに、浸水を一時的に防止するために使用するカンバス製マット。防水マットは、破孔を外側から覆い、船側面に密着するよう、その一面にはロープのヤーンを密植し、周囲にボルト、ロープを附してある。」
