Translating an idiomatic expression is tricky. My rule of thumb, go for literal/direct translation only if the target audience will definitely get it that it is meant idiomatically. Otherwise, I translate the sense.
In the case of this soccer-based idiom, it means being in a state of complete/intense focus (as a player abt to score wld feel).
