Creozotul (Creozotum). Este un amestec de derivaţi fenolici, cei mai importanţi fiind creozolul sau metil gaiacolul şi gaiacolul. Se obţine prin distilare din gudronul de fag. Este antibacterian, antiparazitar şi cu acţiune locală ca şi fenolul. Se recomandă în bronşite, bronhopneumonii, gastroenterite, în aceleaşi doze ca şi gaiacolul

Invechirea whisky-ului se face, in general, in vase de stejar cu capacitate de 180-350 l, ale caror pereti interiori sunt arsi inainte, apoi se indeparteaza creozotul pentru a obtine mai usor gustul caracteristic. Invechirea distilatului dureaza de la 6 luni pana la 5,8,10 ani, cu conditia asigurarii unei pastrari corespunzatoare;
