CONTEXT: "If more than 10% of the pixels in a local region are labeled as foreground pixels based on pixel-level background subtraction [29], the pixel centered in the region is considered as a candidate foreground pixel. Then, we compute the similarity of the neighborhood foreground and back- ground images centered around each candidate foreground pixel using a normalized cross-correlation. The integral image method [20] is used for efficiency. For each neighborhood with low simi- larity, the pixel centered in the neighborhood is labeled as fore- ground. Figure 9 illustrates stages of the segmentation algorithm in situations with similar color and with shadows."

I found that sometimes pixel can be translated as "píxel", but in other sentences "imagen" as a whole, it sounds better to me... Any lights?

MY ATTEMPT: "La extracción de características es de gran utilidad para la segmentación del primer plano que está lleno de sombras, colores parecidos y cambios de iluminación. En primer lugar, se recurre a la densidad del primer plano alrededor de cada píxel para determinar el conjunto de píxeles del primer plano candidato. Si más de un 10% de los píxeles de una zona localizada aparecen etiquetados como píxeles de primer plano en base a la extracción de píxeles del segundo plano [29], el píxel que aparezca centrado en dicha zona se considerará un píxel candidato de primer plano. Así, se calcula el parecido entre las imágenes del primer plano y segundo plano alrededor de cada píxel de primer plano candidato utilizando una correlación cruzada normalizada. Se recurre al método de imagen integral [20] por su eficiencia. Para las zonas cercanas con un parecido menor, el píxel centrado en dichos alrededores se etiquetará como primer plano. La Figura 9 muestra los pasos del algoritmo de segmentación en situaciones con un color similar y con sombras."
