ARRESTING MECHANISM (SLIDE CATCH LEVER)

After the last round is fired, a small ledge on the follower of the magazine pushes up a tab on the slide catch lever. As the slide moves rearward, the slide catch lever engages the arresting notch of the slide, locking the slide to the rear. Pressing down the slide catch lever will release the slide to the closed and locked position. With the magazine removed, pulling the slide slightly to the rear and then releasing it, will cause the slide catch lever to drop from the arresting notch allowing the slide to go forward.
