Tech/Engineering - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng / Käyttöturvallisuustiedote
Finnish term or phrase: inhalable/respirable
Käyttöturvallisuustiedotteessa otsikon "Exposure Controls/Personal Protection" alla annetaan altistuksen raja-arvot. Yhdessä kohtaa sanotaan niiden olevan seuraavat USA:ssa: 10 mg/m3 (inhalable) - 3 mg/m3 (respirable).

Löysin Proz.comista tällaisen selityksen englanniksi termien eroista: "The Health and Safety Executive distinguishes between two size fractions when setting limits for total inhalable and respirable dusts. Total inhalable dust approximates to the fraction of airborne material which enters the nose and mouth during breathing and is therefore available for deposition in the respiratory tract. Respirable dust approximates to that fraction which penetrates to the gas exchange region of the lung." Mutta mitkä mahtavat olla termien käännökset suomeksi?

Standardi SFS-EN481 määrittelee pölyn hiukkasjakeet seuraavasti: hengittyvät hiukkaset eli inhalable convention, keuhkojae eli thoracic convention ja alveolijae eli respirable convention.

Kiitos paljon, Erkki!

Explanation:
Yhtenä vaihtoehtona on antaa eri altistusarvot eri anatomisille alueille. Inhalable=keuhkoputken altistus, respirable=keuhkorakkulan eli alveolin altistus.
