Finnish term or phrase: lähtöinen
Hi all!
Here in this context, i am getting mixed with linking käsitys + opetusvuorovaikutus + opettajalähtöinen luonne.
Below is my translation, but I would like a second opinion, just to make sure... Thanks!

Myös opettajat itse korostavat puheessaan omaa opetusvelvollisuuttaan, jolloin vuorovaikutuksen molemmat osapuolet vahvistavat toistensa käsityksiä opetusvuorovaikutuksen opettajalähtöisestä luonteesta.

Teachers also self-emphasise during speech their own teaching duties, at which point both sides of the interaction reinforce each other’s conceptions of the education interaction originated from the teacher.

English translation:centered (teacher-centered learning process)
Explanation:
Opettajalähtöinen opetus refers to the central role of teachers in the teaching process. Think of it as passive learning. Opiskelijalähtöinen would be student-centered.

Actually, I think you could simplify the last bit and just call it teaching process.

Thank you, Kristina. I think this is really what comes closer to the main idea of the text, which is the power relations existent between teachers and students at Finnish universities.

neutral  Alfa Trans (X): Being a teacher, I find this old-fashioned. Nowadays it's an interactive process.

Also teacher-oriented, but it's more 'painotteinen':

To the peer:
we talk about
teacher-based learning, assessment, curriculum development, instruments, research, predictions, etc.

Why should it be restricted to an evaluation process?

neutral  ohemulen: Doesn't teacher-based refer to the evaluation process (at least in the first example)?

Explanation:
I first thought just by myself that 'teacher-initiated' might be a good choise when translating the expression "opettajalähtöinen vuorovaikutus". And it seems that I am not alone.

Google hits (quotes included in the search string):
"teacher-initiated interaction" 165
"teacher-based interaction" 3
"teacher-driven interaction" 2

Then I similarly googled other "opettajalähtöisyyksiä"

"teacher-driven evaluation" 7
"teacher-based evaluation" 147
"teacher-initiated evaluation" 29

"teacher-initiated nature" 2
"teacher-driven nature" 77
"teacher-based nature" 1

Conclution: '(opettaja)-lähtöisyys' have at least slightly different meannig depending on the context (collocated word), and thus the appropriate translation also varies.
