Ships, Sailing, Maritime / fishing trawler
Flemish term or phrase: visboel
This is also from the same report about an accident with a fishing vessel.

holding tank

Explanation:
"fish bowl" would be the literal translation therefore since it is a fishing vessel "cargo holding tank" would be the equivalent

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your answer, but this cannot be correct as the text talks about visboelen getting caught and tearing so it must be some type of fishing net or gear.

Asker: Thanks very much Writeaway! I am totally confused what is the difference between visboelen and viskuilen. They both seem to be nets but I feel that visboelen actually is more than that... the entire gear?

Have a look at the entries for 'onderboel' and 'bovenboel' in the MULTILINGUAL DICTIONARY OF FISHING GEAR, published in 1992 (2nd ed.) by the Commission of European Communities:

Another option is that the source contains a typp and 'boel' should read 'boei' (i.e. the buoy/float used to mark part of the gear, usually the cod-end). See "boei; joon; breel" in the multilingual dictionary.

And yet another option is that 'visboel' refers to the entire gear that was being hauled at the time the accident happened.

) (foto’s nrs.38 & 39).

@Willemina: writeway's hunch (see D-box) appears to be correct. See the reference I've just added.

And from the safety brochure that I already mentioned above:

Asker: Thanks Kitty, I will have a look at your reference. I have sent the query to a publication on internet that uses the word (in Flemish), but have not heard back. In a couple of hits in the Dutch language the words (a type of net (in Dutch)) was written behind "visboel". It is definitely not a typo, unfortunately, because that would make life a lot easier!
