French term or phrase: Anglais LV section
Hi all,

I'm translating a school report card from French (France) into English (United Kingdom) and am having trouble with one of the phase in question.

It appears as one of the subjects (and is naturally followed by the pupil's grades and comments from her teachers). In addition to "Anglais LV section", she is also studying "Anglais LV1" and "Espagnol LV2".

I understand that "LV" stands for "Langue Vivante" here, but what does the "section" refer to please?

Thanks in advance for your help!

English ML (CLIL) section
Explanation:
ML=Modern Languages

CLIL = Content and Language Integrated Learning which means other subkjects of the school curriculum are taught through the medium of a foreign language, in this case English

"section" is sometimes known as dual-language section but CLIL is accurate

Ok, folks, I think I've got it.

The student is/was doing two English classes, one high-level, and another standard.

In "Anglais LV section" a word is missing (left out, truncated by the software used, or not enough characters available in the software used), and that word is Européenne, so to amend my answer accordingly:

Modern Language - European Section English

neutral  Suzie Withers: I think it's more than this - it means that they are taught other subjects in the English language (not just in English lessons)

  -> The pupils are indeed taught other subjects, as in most cases "Section" refers to the programme followed in the last two years of French secondary school, Première and Terminale. My nephew did "Section Européenne".

agree  ormiston: Maybe for clarity say "subjects/curriculum taught in English"?
