French to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Cardiology
French term or phrase: CAD
A French text that I am translating is talking about health in general and then mentions cardiovascular diseases. I've had a lot of not so great search results when search for CAD and looking for French articles. Is it that Franch has adopted CAD from Englsih where it means coronary artery disease?

Explanation:
See the Discussion for why I'm proposing very similar alternatives.

I think any of the above will do, but the thing to do is to evaluate the credibility of the sources, ALWAYS. Method.
Canadian websites, Wiki, etc., enable you to toggle between FR and EN, which is invaluable.

I think Drmanu49 specialises in medical translations, but, that said, and genuine respect paid, my method as a seasoned translator is valid too.

The CAD adopted into French theory is not backed up by the numbers (internet search matches), but is not entirely impossible. BUT doesn't make a difference, at the end of the day.
On this point, if you can't ask the client, it's a percentage game, and I would say 20-80 against CAD being adopted, despite the Canadian reference. But again, makes no difference to me, a non-specialist, it has to be said.

Looks like it's a fairly general term to cover many things.

Note: coronary artery disease repeated in my answer because two sources indicate this wording.
