French term or phrase: (sceller la) charte des traditions
This is a text about the Foreign Legion and the Battle of Camerón.

I wonder if it is being used figuratively here, as the only reference I find to it on Google is on the website of the Ecole des Officiers de la Gendarmerie Nationale:

Explanation:
If you are really unsure following your research, this solution is a bit of a fudge, but offers both a figurative reading and a reference to a genuine charter.

Nice solution, Thomas! I think, after all, it is figurative, but as you say, this covers both angles neatly.

(seal the) charter of the traditions

Explanation:
Information describes a military school with a charter which is co-signed each year by important people, such as a town provost, with course promotions, which both guarantee military traditions and their publicity.
(The charter emphasizes the school's identity, to encourage the ethos of its subsequent publicity.)

Example sentence(s):
  • 'This allows the development of an ethos with a community among learners, while they take part in the institution's positively influential work. As its organisation is evaluated each year the charter emphasizes the school's identity

(seal the) traditions charter

Explanation:
si je developpe un peu:
1) seal the body's traditions charter --- plus cool
2) seal the charter of the traditions of the body --- repetition des 'of the'
3) seal the body's charter of the traditions --- non
4) seal the charter of the body's traditions --- cool
je trouve la première option plus appropriée
