German term

Pfahlrost

German to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Rammpfähle
This is about a foundation and I'm not entirely happy with the pile structure or grate suggested by Linguee. A grill??

Wikipedia says that

capping beams

It distributes the pressure. The actual structure can be erected on this.

agree Z-Translations Translator : Yes, capping beams is the right term used by engineers. https://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?query=capping ...

pile group

I realize you have 'Pfahlgruppe' in your text already, which is going to complicate matters for you, but both your description of this foundation type and what I see on the Web for 'Pfahlrost' indicate to me that it is a pile group (a pile group for foundations on land generally being connected at the top by a reinforced concrete structure of some kind).

I say 'of some kind' because the shape of this RC structure (Rostplatte) can vary. It can be a discrete pile cap atop a single pile group, or a capping beam atop a row of piles or pile groups, or a raft foundation, i.e. one whose width is great relative to its length, as opposed to a capping beam, atop piles or pile groups extending in two dimensions.

agree Chris Foster : Pile groups or clusters - see for example https://nitsri.ac.in/Department/Civil Engineering/CGE-202_2_...
