This is the number of units (or shares of stock) held in a custodial account, i.e. the investor holds 4,000 units in the Deutsche Bank (DT.BANK) fund in question. I've attached a link to a Canadian portfolio statement where you can find the corresponding information under "Asset Details" > "No. of units/shares you own".

Personally I would not necessarily worry about getting the "Depot" part of "Depotbestand" into this part of the translation as it's perfectly clear from the context (a portfolio statement, apparently) that the units are being held in the account for which the investor is receiving the statement. HTH!
