Hola a todos:

estoy haciendo una traducción de italiano a español que trata de dibujos animados. Sin embargo, hay una expresión que no sé cómo traducir, la cual os detallo a continuación con un poco de contexto:

"Qualche tempo dopo, dal 1921, vanno alla ribalta i fratelli Max e Dave Fleischer. Il loro protagonista più importante fu Ko-Ko, un clown apparentemente innocuo, che BUTTA invece SOTTOSOPRA le regole comuni."

La expresión que no entiendo es la que está en mayúsculas. Creo que significa "poner del revés", pero no estoy seguro. Espero que puedan ayudarme. Muchas gracias.
