disagree  Vladimir Dubisskiy: actually it heavily depends on context (emotion, etc.). I may agree with Jack's "guy" explanation ("folks" would work too, and it's genderless), but that "you" sounds quite arrogant to me. Context would be critical to decide.

  -> я в курсе, Сергей. имела в виду, что это слово как раз и подчеркивает разницу в возрастах.

agree  Vladimir Dubisskiy: не стJит поучать про "доброе и мягкое" - kiddos вполне допустимо (и окрашено лучше, чем бесплотные "guys") - все зависит от того, кто говорит (возраст), от цели обращения, ситуации и т.п. Или можно даже folks сказать.
