Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Spanish term or phrase:
a un buen vino, pocas palabras bastan
English translation:
Good wine speaks for itself
Spanish term
a un buen vino, pocas palabras bastan
This is for a blog post and is playing with the Spanish phrase 'a un buen entendor, pocas palabras bastan' which is often translated in English as 'a word to the wise is sufficient'. I have rejected 'a word to the wine is sufficient' as I think it sounds odd and so far, the best option I can come up with is 'good wine needs few words' but would appreciate any other ideas from the inventive Proz community that maybe reflect a well-known English idiom.
From Spanish to UK English.
TIA

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

good wine needs no bush (no big words, no ad campaign)
good wine needs no bush
proverb
An item of good quality needs no advertisement. Establishments like inns and pubs used to hang ivy and flowers to tell travelers that wine was available inside.
The product I've invented is so excellent that it needs no ad campaign, just as good wine needs no bush.

I found this too, but was hesitant to use it as I hadn't heard it before and it seems a little old fashioned and formal for a blog. |

thanks Neil. Proverbs are always an *inspirational source*. Yesterday, I gave immediately my agree to "Good wine speaks for itself". Nevertheless, that was probably inspired by my "good wine needs no bush (no big words, no ad campaign)"

stop whining and start wining
“Stop whining and stick to wine!” Why I’m not going to stop and neither should you!
Thanks Adrian. I like this but sadly won't fit in my context. |
Discussion
The context was:
A un buen vino, pocas palabras bastan. Por eso nunca puede faltar en tu casa nuestro XXXX, un vino tan especial que con el primer sorbo te dejará sin palabras con su sabor fresco y con carácter, típico de la variedad Tempranillo.
