Spanish term or phrase: demandas ciudadanas de reclamo y resistencia
I am translating a record. They are talking about a family that has been involved in "las diferentes demandas ciudadanas de reclamo y resistencia en contra la dictadura."

For some reason the order and word use is throwing me off...

I have: "civil demands of claims and resistance" It doesn't quite sound right...
I am also considering: "civil resistance and claims against the government"
I thought about getting more creative for example: "Civil demonstrations of complaints and resistance"

I am in search of a balance between being too literal but not straying away from the meaning of the text. Thanks!

English translation:various campaigns of civil disobedience and resistance /to dictatorship/
Explanation:
Would help to know what country this is - the Spanish suggests a Latin American scenario.

Otherwise, the Wiki entry for civil disobedience conflates the ideas of non-violence with a citizens' initiative, the lines being blurred IMO by violent civil 'insurrection' or sedition.

Example sentence(s):
  • The movement Yo No Coopero Con La Dictadura commonly called Yo No for short, is a civil disobedience campaign against the government....
  • Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal of a citizen to obey certain laws, demands, orders or commands of a government. By some definitions, civil disobedience has to be nonviolent to be called "civil".
