= taraud > tap Explanation: This doesn't make any sense unless it's a spelling mistake for "taraud", which sounds the same: /taro/. I think it must be. "Taraud" is a French word, and the English equivalent seems to be "tap". Here's a KudoZ FR-EN question on taraud in this context, which gives "tap", with "bone tap" in the reference: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/french-to-english/medical-general... "Taraud : longue vis à fentes sur le corps = arêtes tranchantes " With a picture. http://www.clave-orthopedie-nice.com/elements/uploads/2017/0... There are some "tarauds" for osteosynthesis with illustrations in this catalogue, which is searchable: http://synthes.vo.llnwd.net/o16/LLNWMB8/INT Mobile/Synthes I... Anyway, I think "tap" would be a safe bet: https://www.interglot.com/dictionary/fr/en/search?q=taraud It seems to be for cutting the thread in bone for a screw. In this catalogue there are "tap drills", but -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 41 mins (2019-04-04 10:59:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, my explanation got garbled. The last paragraph was supposed go earlier, and I meant to continue: "but I don't know whether "tarauds" could refer to them", with this reference (see pp. 5-6): http://www.medimetal.hu/sites/default/files/products_catalog... |
