Spanish to English Art/Literary Music A music critique - Spanish from Spain
This term comes in a lot of times in this document, here is one such instance:

Discussion

Charles Davis Aug 23, 2019:
ornaments or embellishments The standard term in the UK, in my own experience, is "ornaments". Never once throughout my own musical education and subsequent years of music-making in the UK did I hear them called anything else. I don't recall ever hearing a British musician call them "embellishments", though I'm not claiming that none do, and it could be that things have changed since I was active in the musical world. In American musical circles, as far as I know, they are normally, or at least very frequently, called "embellishments"; I don't know whether "ornaments" is also used. So the choice of term may depend on the target readership.

There are a surprisingly large number of differences between American and British English in musical terminology.

You said it was just one instance, so without seeing all the text, and whether one word would apply, I leave you with the reference.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornament_(music)
In music, ornaments or embellishments are musical flourishes—typically, added notes—that are not essential to carry the overall line of the melody (or harmony), but serve instead to decorate or "ornament" that line (or harmony), provide added interest and variety, and give the performer the opportunity to add expressiveness to a song or piece. Many ornaments are performed as "fast notes" around a central, main note.
