The rapid escalation of malicious signed binaries quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year bring into question the viability of the Certificate Authority model. After all, the model is predicated on an assumption of trust, yet we’ve tallied eight million binaries as suspicious. Many of these may be potentially unwanted programs and not truly malicious; nonetheless, the misuse of legitimate code-signing certificates erodes user
trust. Granted, most malicious signed binaries are the work of a few bad apples. However, it’s unreasonable to expect people to distinguish good certificates from malicious certificates. It’s our view that the security industry should lead users out of this
morass. Which certificates can be trusted? What level of trust can we assign to them?

English to Russian: DNV STANDARD FOR CERTIFICATION No. 2.7-1 OFFSHORE CONTAINERS

This Standard for Certification was first published in May, 1989 as "DNV Certification note 2.7-1 Offshore Freight Containers".
It was prepared because other regulations at the time, whether international codes, national requirements or rules published by Det Norske Veritas, did not specifically cover offshore containers. A revised Certification Note was issued in May 1995. The basic strength and design requirements from the original edition were retained.
Many other standards, codes and regulations exist for containers, container-like units and related types of equipment. International standards, codes and regulations considered relevant have been taken into account when preparing this Standard for Certification. The most important of these are IMO's circular MSC/Circ.860 and EN 12079. In 1991 the European Committee for Standardisation, CEN, started developing a European Standard (EN) on offshore containers. Technical committee CEN TC 280 prepared EN 12079, which was issued in 1999, and a revised edition will be issued in 2006. The requirements for design, testing and production of offshore containers in EN 12079 are directly based on DNV Standard for Certification 2.7-1. The relationship between this Standard for Certification and other standards, codes and regulations is outlined in subchapter 1.2.

3. (a) The first 60 (sixty) days of the original employment period shall be a probation period during which the Company retains the right to terminate the employment of the Seaman hereunder at any time upon giving the Seaman at least 5 (five) days prior notice to that effect.
In case the Company terminate the employment of the Seaman hereunder as in this paragraph provide, the Company shall be under no obligation to pay the Seaman any monies. whatsoever other than his remuneration up to the time of his departure from the vessel to the place of repatriation and the transportation to such place shall also be provided and paid for by the Company.
(b) The Seaman may leave the services of the Company during the probation period, provided that he Јives the Company a written notice of his intention to do so at least 5 (five) days prior thereto. In case the Seaman leaves the service of the Company as previously mentioned he shall be entitled to remunerations only up to the date he leaves the service of the Company, and the Company shall not be liable to pay the costs of his transportation to/from the vessel.
The seaman's right to leave the services of the Company, as provided in this paragraph, shall be conditional upon the permission of the duly constituted authorities of the port where he wishes to leave the vessel and neither the Company nor the vessel shall have any responsibility in this regards.

In September, Intel Security released details of a far-reaching vulnerability dubbed BERserk, in a nod to the underlying code that forms the source of the vulnerability. At the time of this writing, BERserk’s full impact is not known, but it is very significant. BERserk takes advantage of a flaw in RSA’s signature verification software, opening the door to cybercriminals to establish man-in-the-middle attacks without users knowledge. Establishing trust when accessing a website usually starts with “https” at the beginning of a URL coupled with a friendly padlock to seal the deal. BERserk compromises that link, allowing bad guys to watch and do anything they want with the flow of information between the user and the website. In the Key Topic “Abuse of trust: exploiting online security’s weak link,” we offer an overview of the challenges we now face regarding the trustworthiness of online websites.
In this Key Topic we take a look at a specific vulnerability that profoundly affects trust. The Intel Security Advanced Threat Research team focuses on several key areas that affect the safety of online transactions and information flow. One of these key areas is the Security Communications Baseline.
