Source text - English As with Rana Plaza, a high level of media coverage appears to have focused on a select number of individuals linked to the Panama Papers. While the media is undoubtedly unable to cover all of the accused, certain people were pushed to the front of the crowd and found themselves in the spotlight concerning their involvement. Examples include the Icelandic, Pakistani and British Prime Ministers. Their statements and actions were and continue to be covered and scrutinised in the media. Many of those who were highlighted in the media were forced to react to the situation by either stepping down from their position as in the case of the Icelandic Prime Minister, or publishing financial or tax documents such as in the case of David Cameron. These parties take on responsibility and pay a price. The majority of those who were named in connection with the scandal have ultimately received less media coverage however, and appear to have drifted into the shadows.
Findings suggest that in collective crises although there are many guilty parties, not all will suffer the same. Those who ‘do the right thing’ and step forward suffer the most, while many others escape relatively unscathed. The media appears to have an important role to play. It is not clear how the media decides which companies to focus on in a collective crisis but we argue that this might be linked to the initial reaction post crisis. For example, by accepting involvement individual companies may put themselves in the story. What is clear, is that those which are highlighted by the media find themselves in a vulnerable position and must pay to repair their reputations. Meanwhile other equally guilty parties who fail to communicate or deny involvement attract less media coverage. These in effect disappear into the background, free riding on those who accept responsibility and pay for the wrongdoing. Although we do not advocate that in such a crisis parties should not fulfil their moral duty, it is important to realise that those who assume their obligations pay the biggest price and receive most media attention, while unfortunately equally guilty parties are able to get away with it.
Translation - French Comme dans le cas du Rana Plaza, seul un petit nombre d’individus liés aux Panama Papers a fait l’objet d’une forte attention médiatique. Si les médias ne peuvent évidemment pas s’intéresser à toutes les personnes incriminées, quelques-unes ont occupé de force le devant de la scène et se sont retrouvées sous les projecteurs de l’actualité. Citons notamment les Premiers ministres britannique, pakistanais et islandais, dont les déclarations et les agissements ont été et continuent d’être rapportés et passés au crible dans les médias. Nombre de ceux à s’être retrouvés épinglés par les médias ont été contraints de faire face à la situation soit en démissionnant, comme l’a fait le Premier ministre islandais, soit en publiant des documents financiers ou leurs déclarations d’imposition, comme David Cameron. Ces gens-là prennent leurs responsabilités et paient le prix de leurs actes. En définitive, la majorité des personnes désignées comme étant mêlées à ce scandale ont suscité une moins grande attention de la part des médias et semblent être retombées dans l’anonymat.
Nos conclusions tendent à démontrer que, lorsque la responsabilité est collective, malgré le grand nombre de coupables, tout le monde ne pâtit pas dans les mêmes proportions. Ceux qui réagissent « comme il faut » en s’auto-désignant paient un plus lourd tribut, alors que bien d’autres s’en sortent à peu près indemnes. Il semble que les médias aient un rôle important à jouer. On ne sait pas exactement ce qui pousse les médias à se concentrer sur telle ou telle entreprise lorsque la crise est collective, mais nous avançons que ce peut être en lien avec la réaction initiale après la crise. Par exemple, en assumant ses responsabilités, telle ou telle entreprise risque de se placer elle-même au cœur de l’actualité. Une chose est sûre : ceux qui occupent le devant de la scène médiatique se retrouvent en position de vulnérabilité et ne peuvent espérer laver leur réputation sans en payer le prix. Dans le même temps, d’autres individus tout aussi coupables ne font aucune déclaration ou nient avoir joué un rôle, suscitant un moindre intérêt médiatique. Relégués au second plan, ils ne sont pas inquiétés et se reposent en réalité sur ceux qui avouent et paient les pots cassés. Bien que nous ne préconisions pas de se soustraire à ses obligations morales dans ce genre de crise, il faut bien comprendre que ceux qui assument paient le prix fort et sont davantage médiatisés là où malheureusement d’autres individus tout aussi condamnables s’en tirent à bon compte.

The rest looked like the band, the rumored band, since the stage remained empty except for Marshall stacks that could've belonged to anybody, bottles of Jack Daniel's ditto. The crowd nipped at JD & Coke, shots of schnapps and Jägermeister. The women all wore fishnets and leather. I copped not just feels but whole lifetimes of inadvertent sexual experience while I moved, writhing between pillowy tits and invisible asses. The girls couldn't have cared less about me, in their pilot caps and heels, their torn T-shirts and long-strung beads and hair that was teased up into all sorts of varicolored contortions. Their faces were waxen, gorgeous, cold. In the morning you'd be able to read their failure but just now, under the house lights, they were goddesses. Of the men - skinny flamingo-punk junkie scumbags, dumb tunnel kids from the other side of the hill - the less said the better. Valleys, we could've called them back in the day, these Redesa heshers and wishful from of out town, dudes who had their own bands that would never fly.

Source text - English THE [XXX] PROGRAMME MUSIC CD
The [XXX] music cues that have been supplied by [XXX] on CD from the Harpo library have all been cleared for international use, and may be used to directly promote [XXX]. For each [XXX] episode, music cue sheets have to be filled out and forwarded on to both [XXX] and the local music collecting society (see page 111 for an example). Should there not be a collecting society for the collection of monies due in respect of mechanical/synchronisation and/or performing rights in place, then [XXX] need to be informed in advance.
Should licensees wish to use any commercial tracks within a [XXX] episode, then clearance must be sought and paid for locally by the licensee.
A NOTE ON USING MUSIC WITHIN THE SHOW:
Aiding each episode in having its own identity is the idea of trying to avoid repeating the same thing multiple times. This discipline was put in place by the Director of the US show, in order to stop things from getting too repetitive (see page 86 for Notes on Direction).
Another way of avoiding repetitiveness is with the music used in the show. There is no set “theme tune”, nor a particular piece of music that should be used at any certain moment. There is a catalogue of musical tracks to choose from, and often different tracks can be mixed together to create an entirely new track. By mid season the editors should have a firm memory of what each track sounds like and the feelings that they evoke, enabling them to use and manipulate them to make a fully effective, ever changing, soundtrack. They are therefore free to use any musical track wherever they wish within the programme.

NOTE CONCERNANT L’UTILISATION DE MUSIQUE DANS L’EMISSION :
Afin de conférer à chaque épisode une identité propre il est préférable d’éviter tout aspect répétitif. Cette ligne de conduite a été instaurée par le Réalisateur de la version américaine de l’émission dans un souci de diversification (voir les notes concernant la réalisation page 86).
Parmi les différents moyens de contourner cette répétitivité, la musique de l’émission joue un rôle important. Aucune musique de générique ni indicatif musical n’a été prédéfini(e) et aucun morceau ne doit être joué à un moment précis de l’émission. En revanche, il est possible de choisir parmi un répertoire de plusieurs morceaux et de les mixer entre eux afin de recréer un morceau totalement inédit. Une fois passée la moitié de la première saison, les monteurs devraient facilement se souvenir de tous les morceaux et des sentiments qu’ils inspirent et pourront les manipuler de façon à renouveler en permanence la bande son qui produira alors un effet des plus efficaces sur les téléspectateurs. Ils jouissent donc d’une entière liberté d’utilisation des différents morceaux pour agrémenter l’émission.
