Spanish to English: Gender and drug use: making visible health inequities General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
Translation - English This critical perspective highlights the behavioural and etiological complexity that is drug consumption, interwoven with social class and ethnic or cultural identification of consumers. It also allows an analysis, which results show that women constitute a group full of fractures and deficiencies, especially of empowerment, which is necessary in environments of poverty and exclusion, such as the contexts that shaped substance use like crack cocaine or inhalants, in which gender violence presents its most vicious side.
