Do you think it's easier if I just export memoQ project, uninstall OneDrive completely, then uninstall and reinstall memoQ?

When One Drive is not synced and there are files there, you can treat its contents as they would be in a regular folder - copy, move, delete - to other locations. Again - I have a lot of stuff in One Drive - mostly translation reference files and they are just sitting there, and have been for many years now. They are not synced with anything. I just use One Drive as cloud storage.
A Q&D fix is to rename folders that you want One Drive to leave alone. It will lose the path.
As to Memoq - you need to assign Memoq to look for your projects elsewhere (in other folders). But here I can't help you because I only use Memoq at work and other people do these things for me :-/

While this is how it works on some computers, on most computers OneDrive behaves differently. It creates a folder named "OneDrive" and then it creates subfolders e.g. "Documents" and then it moves your files from the original default "Documents" folder into its own OneDrive/Documents folder. If you delete those files or folders, you are deleting your actual files. You also can't simply copy or move the files back to the original empty Documents folder, because it affects things like file linking. Also, Windows now considers the OneDrive/Documents folder to be your new default Documents folder, which is why programs like MemoQ does that too.

It is true that one can use OneDrive as passive storage, but the usual way OneDrive works doesn't just do passive storage: it provides syncing. If you have successfully figured out how to use OneDrive's passive storage, then you can e.g. delete files from the cloud without affecting the files on your computer. But if your OneDrive is set up to do syncing, deleting a file in the cloud will also cause it to be deleted on your computer. [/quote]

Exactly. memoQ is storing any new projects to "Documents" but for some reason that "Documents" folder is located inside "OneDrive" and I don't know how to remove this path.
Also, when I check "Location" in memoQ, some projects are still stored in "Documents" (which is not within OneDrive) and some projects are stored in "Documents" within OneDrive. I believe this is because I quickly turned off syncing when I noticed, but when I try to move a project that is stored in "Documents" not within OneDrive, memoQ says "memoQ cannot open this project because the files no longer exist in their original location.".....

Thank you for your comment. I hope that's not quite correct too, but unfortunately, when I check "location" in memoQ, ANY new project I create is automatically stored in "C->User->OneDrive->Document->My memoQ project" and everything goes through OneDrive, not to the "Documents" directly.

I believe I stopped OneDrive from syncing already. In my computer, OneDrive says "not signed in" and every time I turn on my computer, it never sign in or start syncing, so I think that is already solved.

Thank you very much. I just started to watch the first video.
I can't click "Sync and back up" because mine is greyed out and unclickable.
When I click MyDrive icon on toolbar, it says "not signed in"
Should I sign in first? However, I am concerned that once I sign in, OneDrive might start syncing everything automatically.

@Samuel - OK, I stand corrected, however my main point is to kill as many automatic One Drive processes as you can. As I said - it's a tedious manual process (default "save" locations etc.). The main point is - stop One Drive from Syncing anything. Then work from there.

Not if the file in the cloud is in a folder that is not being synced. The first thing you must do is turn off everything in the One Drive "Back up folders on this PC" dialog. Then turn off One Drive from your Settings -> Apps -> Startup. Then work from there.

Thank you, this is the best solution that I also have come up with, but I'll need to remember to do this for every future project from this client... And yes, I agree that having all TB entries start with upper case is bad practice, but not much I can do on that end, since this is a long running project that I inherited.

Hi all,

I am having a bit of a specific issue that has never come up before.

My client sends me an .sdlppx package, which I open, process and export in memoQ like I have done dozens of times before.

This time, I got a QA report from my client for a missed TB term that hasn't been showing in memoQ due to a capitalization issue.

The TB entry has "Case sensitivity" set to "Permissive", which apparently means that the term isn't shown if the TB entry uses upper case and the text occurrence is in lower case. When I set the case sensitivity to "No", the term suddenly appears in my concordance window...

This is rather annoying, since my latest Trados license was for SDL Studio 2015, and I haven't had a reason to renew it since then, because memoQ was handling everything just fine. This current issue makes it sound like I may need to find another way to process this client's packages, if TB terms continue to not show up in memoQ.

Any ideas?

Since contacting memoQ support went nowhere, I posted question to Microsoft Support forum a few days ago.
Someone suggested the same. However, since my most important files are currently stored in OneDrive my document folder, I haven't tried that yet. I can't lose any files there.

Hello,

I have been contacting memoQ support for help, but they are basically sending me the URL only, and I haven't solved my issue yet. I would really appreciate if you someone can give me step by step instruction, as I tried many times but the issue hasn't been solved yet.

When I launched OneDrive by mistake, OneDrive started to sync everything on OneDrive. Most of the files in memoQ is still stored in OneDrive, and when I try to set up a new project in memoQ, memoQ stores any new projects in OneDrive document file by default.
Before I launch OneDrive by mistake, everything was working very smooth. MemoQ was storing projects to local folders automatically, and I had no issue. I want exactly the same setup as before.

I checked my memoQ setting, and the default location is set to "My memoQ project" folder already.
However, the biggest problem is, path to "My memoQ project" was changed by OneDrive to:
C->User->OneDrive->Document->My memoQ project (the path to Document goes through MyDrive).
How can I change this to C->User->Document->My memoQ project (to avoid going through OneDrive)?

It is not only the memoQ issue. For example, when I download something, Windows path always go through MyDrive.
It looks like everything is already tied to OneDrive, and I don't know how to completely unlink it.

You could create a view and select "Not a repetition" (but there are downsides to working in a view, not all features are available).

Do segments you confirm as a reviewer get a double check-mark (Reviewer 1)? If they do, then you can set up your Go to settings to jump over segments with only a single check-mark (Translator confirmed).

Hi there,

I've hit a wall with this (not uncommon for me and memoq).

I am reviewing a large doc - a sawing system specification. I simply want to confirm certain terms such as "mm" millimetres, have all similar instances of "mm" confirmed, and then skip these as I progress. I've been messing with the "Go to" settings for ages and not getting anywhere.

You need to be very careful when using livedocs alignment. It's usually OK, but there's rarely a document that is perfectly aligned and fixing this manually can be very time consuming.

My problem is that I use a company Memoq. They have many TM. Sometimes there are 5 coincidences of TM and Livedocs is at the end. You have to scroll and you can lose information. I will investigate and put the result here to see if I can separate TM from Livedocs in the section you told me.

If you really want to prioritise LiveDocs over TMs, you can always create a TM setting that penalises your TM to a certain extent. This way, TM entries will always be below the LiveDocs hits.

Hi again! In that configuration you say, I have TM and Livedocs in the same tag / colour. Is there any way to separate TM and LIVEDOCS to be able to put LIVEDOCS above TM? Thanks again :)

This is quite easy actually. In the grid, right-click the translation resulta panel, choose Customize Appearance. In the Lookup Results tab, you can move up or down the different types of hits to your liking.
