In my case it's a thing between colleagues, mainly.

My family and friends know that I'm a translator and sometimes ask me politely a few questions about my work, but I'm afraid reality is that translation has a rather dull, uninteresting reputation (although interest seems to have grown since the AI hype: "Aren't you out of work yet because of AI?"). In that context you can't expect the general public to know about something completely trivial like "International Translation Day". On a personal level: I couldn't care less about it. My focus has always been on my translation work and on my translation work alone.

Some of them surely would if they knew about it, but even I don't know when it is and wouldn't expect it from anyone else.

International Translation Day is celebrated on September 30th each year, not August.
Am I wrong?

Birthdays Aug 29, 2025

Like most of the replies, my family doesn't even know there is an International Translation Day.
Then, in my case, that day, Sept. 30, we have two birthdays: my brother's and a nephew's from my other brother, so nobody in the family remembers Translation Day at all.

I barely remember it! Aug 29, 2025

To be honest, I always forget the national and international holidays and days. So, I would not expect my family to remember the international Translation Day as well. Anyway, I am more than happy to attend the Proz.com ITD event this year. See you there!
