Everyone that is serious about staying as long as possible in this industry while earning a full income, has every interest in following the evolutions about AI, be it to use the applications to their own benefit, or to be able to better meet the customers' needs. The moaners, doomers and don't-carers have the upperhand on this site, at least on the surface, but I'm pretty sure that a silent majority takes AI seriously, as they should.

So I will be happy to keep on reading everythin

So I will be happy to keep on reading everything AI (what it can do and what it can't, the (not) bursting AI bubble etcetera).

Let's face it: "Tabor" isn't too far away from "Tha Bot".

Sorry! Good to know there is still a human hand behind these questions. I have been very interested in AI in general, although not so much specifically in regard to translation as I am at very end of my career.

There is a difference between marxism and marxology Mar 30

comparable to the one between 'not ignoring' changes that are and will keep happening - which surely would be NOT a wise thing to do - and asking to no end 'poll questions' that sound more like copy-pasted advertising AI hype than anything else,

In that regard, even this poll question could be seen as a false 'binary choice'.

It depends... Mar 30

I might be interested in news about AI and how AI might support our work, but now and then only. It is quite easy to find information how AI could assist us.
But I am not interested in jobs offered by AI companies expecting us to work for practically nothing.
And not in supporting tools like Pastey (that was no innovation BTW). I personally, like many colleagues, prefer not to use AI for the translation (or revision) of texts.

Jared, before you post another poll question, please have it checked by a native English speaker.

Otherwise it makes the site look bad.

"not...anymore" taken as a whole Mar 31

To my ear, the question means "I no longer want to hear anything about AI as it applies to our industry," and it is a valid statement to make.

Don't you as a native English speaker read "not...anymore" as a whole? If not, that would be something I'd need to learn more about.

My wife has lots of non AI work proofreading the Spanish translation of an English translation of a Chinese translation. She gets constant work along those lines.
For the rest of us working on, say, European translations, it's game over. This time last year I was earning 6000 euro per month. In February this year I earned 200 euro.
Your call.

This is how I understand it too. To my non-native ears, the word is just in the wrong place - shouldn't it be put at the end of the sentence?

It seems my status as native speaker of English has finally been revoked. It was a question of time, I suppose. Are there any other languages out there who would be willing to take me in?

AI Apr 3

Just wanted to say "Happy Easter" and "Khristos Voskresye" to Henry in his monastery who seems to be no longer involved in the language industry. Actually he was wise enough to get out while the getting was good.
