أثار إعلان مكتب الاستخبارات الفدرالية الأميركية (أف بي آي) استخدامه للطائرات دون طيار للمراقبة داخل الأراضي الأميركية جدلاً بشأن التهديد الذي تشكله على خصوصية الأميركيين.
وذلك إثر إقرار مدير (أف بي آي) روبرت مولر الأسبوع الفائت أمام مجلس الشيوخ باستخدام طائرات مراقبة من دون طيار فوق الأراضي الأميركية، ولكن بشكل محدود للحصول على معلومات حساسة، ويجري حالياً وضع القواعد العامة والإرشادات الضرورية لهذا الاستخدام .
ومن جانبه اعتبر مدير السياسة الخارجية في "لجنة أصدقاء التشريعات الوطنية" مايكل شانك أن استخدام الطائرات بلا طيار لعمليات المراقبة "يشكل نهاية للخصوصية التي نعرفها".
وأوضح بحديثه للجزيرة نت أن الطائرات بلا طيار صارت تستخدم من قبل الشرطة الأميركية ووسائل الإعلام والمسؤولين المحليين والفدراليين، وتوقع أن تصبح أقل تمييزاً عن الأجسام الطائرة الأخرى في السماء كالطيور والفراشات نتيجة للتطور السريع الذي تشهده هذه التكنولوجيا. | Translation - English
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) revelation of its use of unmanned drones for surveillance on US soil stirred a debate about the threat they pose to the privacy of Americans.
The revelation comes just after the director of the FBI, Robert Mueller, acknowledged last week before the Senate the use of unmanned surveillance drones over US soil to obtain sensitive information—albeit in a limited way.
General principles and guidelines are currently being developed and drawn up for such use of drones.
The director of foreign policy at the Friends Committee on National Legislation, Michael Shank, regarded the use of drones for surveillance operations as "bringing an end to privacy as we know it".
He also explained in his interview with Al Jazeera Arabic's website that drone planes were first used by American police, the media and local and federal officials, and that it is expected they will become less distinguishable from other flying objects in the sky, such as birds and butterflies, owing to the rapid development which this technology is experiencing. |
