Sometimes (or usually) we have to translate in the same language the original and then translate into the second language. Even worse, authors very often forget using verbs so we have to guess. That's terrible!

Glad it's not just me... I'm often sorely tempted to translate pretentious BS like this literally too.

@ Phil When I find myself faced with this sort of sentence I often translate it literally out of sheer irritation with the author. And it often turns out OK. Obviously "en" is missing after "se convierten", but "transversal nuclei" and "paradigmatic perspectives" can be found in educational texts, believe it or not. I sometimes feel that I'm not paid enough to waste my time trying to work out what it means.
