baptized or initiated into buddhism

基本意思应该是如此。虽然baptize原本与基督教联系更密切些,但加上后面的buddhism应该不会有歧义,而initiate当更无问题。

For native speakers of English, "baptized" should be easier to understand. Thanks a million.
So, Nigel, it's like difference among church, Cathedral, mosque, temple and lamasery, right?

agree Nigel Jones : I agree, however I native English speakers will be perfectly capable of differentiating Baptized and Initiated. If it is in reference to Buddhism you should use 'inititate' to avoid people thinking you are talking about Christianity
