Nav nekādas garantijas, ka lietotā terminoloģija ir pareiza. Varbūt konspekts ir veidots no studiju materiāla, kurā jau ir minēts šāds tulkojums. (Pastāv gan arī iespēja, ka konspekts veidots no materiāla svešvalodā un students terminu ir tulkojis pats)

Freimaņa minētajam altruismam gan nekāda sakara ar šo tipu nav. Alocentriķis ir tāds tūrists, kas vairāk meklē piedzīvojumus, uzdrošinās izmēģināt jaunas lietas, pretstatā "psychocentric", kas ir vairāk konservatīvs, vairāk visu plāno, gaida konkrētas lietas utt.

Manuprāt, te nav tik liela nozīme tam, vai cilvēks ir sabiedrisks vai nesabiedrisks, jo dalījums Ploga tipos nebalstās tikai uz šo vienu īpašību.
Iedalījums drīzāk ir balstīts uz to, kāda ir tūrista attieksme pret ceļošanu kā tādu - alocentriķi var, piemēram, nezin cik ilgi apceļot pasauli bez konkrētiem plāniem, uzņemties risku, turpretī psihocentriķim vienmēr būs konkrētos datumos rezervētas viesnīcas, lidojumi u.tml. Turklāt - "trakais" alocentriķis var būt īsts vienpatis un tik un tā piederēt alocentriķu kategorijai, un nekur nav teikts, ka "mierīgais" psihocentriķis nevarētu būt īsta sabiedrības dvēsele.
Starp citu, sakne "allo" tāpat kā "psych" nāk no grieķu, nevis latīņu valodas :). Man arī šķiet, ka nekāda lielā skāde nevarētu celties, ja šie termini tiktu latviskoti, saglabājot grieķu val. saknes, it īpaši, ja saglabājas līdzība angļu versijai.

This led Plog (1972, 1987, 1991) to develop a tourism-specific scale using the type trait personality theory of tourism. Plog’s original research involved interviewing people who did not travel by plane but earned above average incomes. Plog found these people were not venturesome, were anxious within their daily lives and believed they had little control over their lives (Cooper, Fletcher, Gilbert & Wanhill, 1993). Plog (1974) classified this type as “psychocentric” which is derived from the psyche where ***individuals centre their thoughts on the small problem areas of their lives***. The dimensional opposite was labelled “allocentric” where the root “allo” means ***varied in form and relates to centring on many, varied experiences***. In general, tourists with an allocentric personality type were said to prefer to be independent and have non-organised tourist experiences to little known destinations. In contrast, psychocentric personality types were found to prefer to be part of mass tourism markets and were typified by tourists on highly organised packaged tours. In further refinement, Plog (1987) hypothesised a continuum of tourist personality: from psychocentrics to midcentrics to allocentrics.

tūristu pamattipi "allocentric, psychocentric, midcentric"
Šaubos, vai tā terminoloģija ir kaut kur akceptēta, kaut gan tas Plogs ir gan daudz citēts, gan daudz arī pelts. Iesaku dot īsu frāzi, kas raksturo, kas tas ir, un atstāt oriģinālu pēdiņās . Austras ideja ir riskantāka. Var jau viņu visus nolatviskot uz savu galvu, jo nekā pārdabiska tajos vārdos nav - visi ir latīņu cilmes un to pamtnozīme ir daudz maz skaidra. allo - acīmredzot no alter - orientēts uz citiem (altruisms). Psyco it kā pats par sevi skaidrs - paši par savu "psihi" satraucas, ka tik kas nenotiek. Un mid centric ir pa vidu.
