Perpustakaan kecil adalah lembaga pendidikan yang baik untuk pengembangan pendidikan daerah secara seimbang. Sebagian besar desa memiliki Taman Bacaan Masyarakat atau Perpustakaan Desa di desa. Walupun TBM memiliki tanggung jawab atas sebagian pendidikan pembacaan dan informasi, dalam rangka pendidikan sepanjang hayat untuk masyarakat diperlukan sebuah pusat sumber belajar untuk pendidikan secara holistik yang terintegrasi. Alasan penelitian ini memilih perpustakaan kecil model Korea Selatan sebagai perpustakaan kecil adalah karena memiliki fungsi dasar untuk pembacaan dan pencarian informasi, memberikan bermacam-macam program pendidikan secara holistik untuk pengguna, dan saling berkomunikasi dengan masyarakat sebagai pusat sumber belajar di desa, dan dikelola oleh dukungan dan partisipasi dari masyarakat. Ketika model yang seperti ini diterapkan di dalam situasi Indonesia, akan diteliti apakah kemampuan mencari informasi, kemampuan membaca dan menulis, kreativitas, karakter yang baik dan kepedulian peserta terhadap lingkungan meningkat atau tidak.
Untuk penelitian ini, sebuah perpustakaan kecil didirikan di desa Karangwidoro-Dau-Malang dan disediakan buku-buku dan berbagai macam Alat Peraga Edukatif. Setelah itu, ditentukan tiga macam obyek penelitian, yaitu pengguna (anak-anak) perpustakaan kecil, masyarakat, dan sekolah sekitar dan diciptakan program-program pendidikan untuk mereka. Setiap sekolah di Korea Selatan memiliki perpustakaan sekolah sendiri, mengelola perpustakaan tersebut secara mandiri dan tidak ada hubungan kerjasama pendidikan dengan perpustakaan kecil. Tetapi karena diantara sekolah di desa di Indonesia, masih ada banyak sekolah yang belum memiliki perpustakaan sekolah ataupun perpustakaan sekolah yang dimiliki tidak aktif, perpustakaan kecil model Korea Selatan memberikan program pendidikan di dalam hubungan kerjasama dengan sekolah.
Program-program untuk kemampuan pencarian buku, pengembangan membaca dan menulis, kreativitas, karakter yang baik, dan peningkatan kesadaran terhadap lingkungan dikembangkan dan dilaksanakan untuk anak-anak sebagai pengguna. Untuk masyarakat, program perpustakaan keliling dilaksanakan untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran terhadap pembacaan ibu-ibu dan kreativitas melalui APE. Informasi acara desa dan perpustakaan kecil, keluarga, pendidikan dan kesehatan diberikan melalui warta berita desa. Warta berita ini digunakan sebagai bahan NIE (Newspapper in Education) di PKK desa. Untuk sekolah sekitar, setelah dipilih 2 TK (Taman Kanak-kanak) di desa dan dilaksanakan program-program 4 macam tema dari 18 Nilai Karakter Bangsa yang disusun oleh Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Indonesia.
Dalam analisis penilaian terhadap pelaksanaan program, karena peserta program untuk perseorangan adalah anak-anak, maka data-data dianalisis melalui metode pengamatan dengan metode analisis kualitatif. Data-data program untuk masyarakat dan sekolah dianalisis melalui angket penelitian dari peserta(dewasa).
Hasil analisis data-data yang diperoleh adalah sebagai berikut: bagi program untuk perseorangan, hasil data program-program yang telah disusun untuk perseorangan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa program-program tersebut baik dan cocok dilaksanakan di situasi desa Indonesia. Hasil analisis data-data program untuk masyarakat dan sekolah yang diperoleh dengan metode analisis statistik juga menunjukkan program-program ini dapat diterapkan di lingkungan desa Indonesia.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, program-program layanan perpustakaan kecil model Korea Selatan dapat diterapkan kepada anak-anak sebagai pengguna, masyarakat dan sekolah. Dan seluruh obyek sasaran mendapatkan hasil pengaruh yang baik. Program-program ini didiseminasikan kepada TK atau TBM sehingga program ini dapat berperan baik untuk masyarakat.

The small library is a good educational institution for the development of balanced local education. The majority of the villages have Public Reading Rooms or a Village Library in the village. Although TBM (Public Reading Rooms) are responsible for some reading education and information, for the sake of lifelong education for the community a learning resource center is needed for holistic integrated education. The reason this study chose a South Korean model for a small library is because it has the basic function of reading and information searching, it gives many kinds of holistic educational programs for the user, and communicates with the community as a learning resource center in the village, and it is managed by the support and participation of the community. When this kind of model is applied to an Indonesian situation, the participant's improvement in the ability to search for information, the ability to read and write, creativity, good character and care for the environment will be inspected.
For this study, a small library was established in the village of Karangwidoro, Dau, Malang and books and several kinds of educational props were provided. After that, three kinds of research objects were determined, namely users (children) of the small library, the community, and area schools, and educational programs were created for them. Each school in South Korea has its own school library, manages that library independently, and has no cooperative education relationship with small libraries. But because among schools in Indonesian villages there are still many schools that do not yet have a school library or even an indirectly owned school library, the South Korean model small library gives an education program in a cooperative relationship with the school.
Programs for the ability to search for books, reading and writing development, creativity, good character, and increasing the awareness of the environment are developed and implemented for children as users. For the community, a mobile library program is implemented to increase awareness of mothers' reading and creativity through educational props. Information on village events and the small library, family, education, and health are provided through a local news broadcast. This news broadcast is used as material for NIE (Newspaper in Education) in the village PKK. For area schools, two kindergartens were selected in the village and programs were implemented with 4 kinds of themes from 18 National Character Values that were arranged by the Education and Cultural Department of Indonesia.
In the analytical assessment of the programs' implementation, because the participants of programs for individuals are children, the data is analyzed through the method of observation with qualitative analysis methods. Program data for the community and school is analyzed through a questionnaire study of participants (adults).
The result of the analysis of the obtained data is as follows: for programs for individuals, data results of the programs that have been compiled for the aforementioned individuals shows that these programs are good and fitting to be implemented in an Indonesian village situation. The result of the analysis of the obtained data from the programs for the community and school which were obtained by the method of statistical analysis also show that these programs can be applied to an Indonesian village environment.
Based on the results of this study, South Korean model small library service programs can be applied to children as users, communities and schools. And all target objects obtained the result of good influence. These programs are disseminated to kindergartens or TBM so that this program can play a good role in the community.
