Russian term

пока не попадал к тому, у кого

Russian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature children's literature

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com May 3, 2005:
To Larissa: Yours is a good version, Larissa, but the problem is that it wouldn't turn magical at just one touch. The process would need some time, alas.
Non-ProZ.com May 3, 2005:
Yes, Jack, youve pointed the problem. I dont think I can say "the one who turned it into the Magic Stone", since the Stone would turn magical on its own. Maybe the one who let it turn into the Magic Stone"? Although Im not really sure about this one either.

...to turn into the Magic Stone.

I'm not altogether happy with that. I see the problem with "у кого". It would be easier if this person took an active role so that you could say "the one who turned it into the Magic Stone". Maybe you could say that, if you don't think it's straying too far from the original.

agree Kirill Semenov : `until it reached the one in whose hands it turned into...' Why not? Or, if not -- why? + Thank you :)
