Serving the world's largest community of translators, ProZ.com delivers a comprehensive network of essential services, resources and experiences that enhance the lives of its members. Here is a list and summary of the most basic features.
The KudoZ network provides a framework for translators and others to assist each other with translations or explanations of terms and short phrases. To date, there have been 3,903,411 translation questions asked. All of these questions and their suggested translations have produced a very useful searchable archive.
ProZ.com is the number one source of new clients for translators. Translation and interpreting jobs are posted through the job system, and interested parties may then submit a quote. In addition to the job posting system, there is also a searchable directory of freelance translators and interpreters that may be used to locate language professionals.
There are ProZ.com conferences, training sessions (online and offline) and powwows (informal get-togethers of groups of ProZ.com users living in close proximity) happening all over the world. These events are a great way to expand your skills, meet new professionals, and have fun!
The Blue Board is a searchable database of language job outsourcers with feedback from service providers. ProZ.com users that have worked with a particular outsourcer are permitted to enter a number from 1 to 5 corresponding to his or her "likelihood of working again" with a given outsourcer, as well as a short comment. With over 15,000 outsourcers on file, it's good practice to consult the Blue Board before accepting a job from a new client.
