French to English Marketing Sports / Fitness / Recreation fishing rod cases
This is on a description of a carrying case for fishing rods.
It says there are "poches exterieures pour epuisettes et piques"

At first I just assumed that pique was bankstick, but looking at the picture, the pockets are square, not rectangular, and so I don't think a bankstick would fit in it.
I found a picture online of a similar rod case:

I believe this case is for carp fishing in particular, a type of fishing I'm less familiar with (I'm a fly-girl meself). I've found several references to sand spikes or ground spikes, but am not sure how they are used.

Is anyone familiar enough with this type of fishing to confirm that spikes would be carried in a rod case, along with keepnets (epuisettes).

David, you are a lifesaver! :-) Of course you are right epuisette is landing net, but the glossary the client gave me had keepnet and I didn't even question it. I will point this out to them. I agree that there must be another long pouch on the other side of the case, not shown in the picture, otherwise it makes no sense. Many thanks again for your help.

Those square pockets are probably for reels. There's likely to be another long pouch (on the other side?) for the landing net and the bankstick, I'd have thought.

Mara - an "�puisette" is a "landing net" not a "keepnet".

Mara... I don't think the picture is right. IMO, a bankstick is correct. Rod bags generally contain pouches for keepnets and banksticks - the banksticks are multi-purpose and for fastening keepnets, umbrellas, rod rests, etc. (sea & carp fisherman myself)

Whoops just looked again..it's flat...right..OK a rod case...carp fishing requires spikes? I think those are pockets for reels..don't know what a keepnet is...sorry about misread

Mara..that is to put around one's waist..I don't see how that can be a fishing rod case...it's a reel and lure case..the reels in the stick-out little pouches and lures and other odds and ends in the flat part..spikes in a belt carrier?? :)

you are right : pique is a bankstick

other things that you can stick or slide in pocket would be the fish net and fish gaff that can be "telescopic":-)

side pockets can be like on a backpack, pockets for climking gear where you can slide a ice axe :-)
