German term

Drittländer

German to English Bus/Financial Government / Politics Politics
Davon gehen:

5% (5,3 Mrd.) an die Außenpolitik, das sind Sicherheitsmaßnahmen und Hilfsmaßnahmen für Drittländer

...es geht um EU-Gelder, die der Außenpol., der Innenpol. der Landwirtschaft usw. zugewiesen werden. Dabei geht es wahrscheinlich nicht um Länder der dritten Welt. Aber third-party countries (wie unter google) sind es wahrscheinlich auch nicht, oder doch?

agree Lancashireman : 'Third countries' sounds translated and would baffle most readers. I have never read that phrase in any UK media. It would be interesting to see what other native English speakers think.

definition of third countries

Just to back up silfilla's suggestion of "third countries", here's a definition from http://www.archive.official-documents.co.uk/document/maffdh/...

Third countries Any country or territory which is not part of the customs territory of the European Community.

and similarly from http://salto-youth.net/glossary/

Third countries: neither Member States of the European Union, nor Pre-accession countries, nor members of EFTA/EEA.
