szerszy konteks to jedno, jest tu niezbedny, ale przydalo by sie jeszcze wiedziec, w jakiej stylistyce robisz to tlumaczenie. jesli bawisz sie w dialekty angielskiego (Scots?), to trzeba by to i tutaj uwzglednic.

My interpretation, not just a translation.

IMO "jak Bóg dobry" = I swear by good God - in this sentence.

And yet, Jolanta's version also makes sense. It all depends on the use of commas that are missing here thus making two interpretations equally possible.
