English term

racing (as adjective)

English Art/Literary Other
What are the possible meanings that can be inferred from this phrase: "I have a racing passion"

1) I have a passion to race cars
2) I have a passion (for something, but not stated) that is so racing (so strong)

Is number 2 a valid inference?
Thanks so much in advance!!

David Knowles Apr 24, 2006:
I agree with Jack, BUT what about a "racing heart"? That means a "heart that is racing", that is, a heart that is beating very fast! I thought the question was going to be about a "racing certainty", but it wasn't :-)
Jack Doughty Apr 24, 2006:
Exactly!
Carol C.W. CHUNG (asker) Apr 24, 2006:
but "racing" can be used in "racing thoughts"? oh, it's to describe thoughts as if they're like fast-moving cars racing, right?

passion for racing

I am pretty sure it cannot be used in the other way you suggest, it would have to be a passion for racing (not necessarily motor racing, could be horse racing)
