I don't really understand the point taht teh writer is trying to make here in this last sentence, any ideas?

I guess you are interested in the whole second paragraph, not just the last sentence.
I understand that ABC is not offering products without a brand name, but with a brand XXX in which little is spent in the way of promotion.
The problematic paragraph would indicate that ABC is planning to offer branded products behind its XXX brand name. This should allow ABC to have a better feedback about the market's prices and to improve its axquisition process. The other companies selling the branded goods would win an aditional distribution channel.
