agree Kamran Nadeem : The same situation is in Pakistan. There is a 'Linguistic Hegemony’ of Urdu on Punjabi in Pakistan. You may see the example of the recently asked Kudoz “I am proud of my ancestors’ the answer was almost in Urdu.This reflects Punjabi’s standing in Pakistan

I completely agree with you. There is a lot of influence of Hindi on Punjabi in India. We can clearly see this influence in Punjabi newspapers, and even in official glossaries. Another option in this case would be 'mantav' (ਮੰਤਵ)।

agree Rajan Chopra : I think that the influence of Hindi in Punjabi is unavoidable and natural because Punjabi does not seem to have words for all the expressions. Moreover, it is derived from Hindi only so the Hindi words are inevitable.

Yes there are some expressions for which we do not have words in Punjbai, but Punjabi is not derived from Hindi, like Hindi, it is an Indo-Aryan language derived from Sanskrit.
agree Ashar : I agree with all the gentlemen. But another problem developed over the years is that many Punjabi people have become unfamiliar with pure Punjabi words. Rather they use many Urdu/Hindi words by just twisting them.

That's because of the influence of other language, but I also think it is natural because so many languages and dialects are spoken in this region.
