Discussion

Do you have any more context, especially about the plant?
Becky Heaviside (X) (asker) Oct 11, 2006:
sorry - typo - should be a lower case "s"
¿Estás segura que es "los motores entre Sí," y no "los motores entre sí?" "Entre Sí," me parece extraño.

neutral Brett Richards, B.S., M.B.A. : I agree: when I hear (or read) the phrase "entre sí," I immediately hear "inwardly" in English. The trouble is, "sub-minisiter of the motors inwardly" can't seem to be the correct translation in this context. I'm just not sure. Thanks for your input.

of motor interaction

I've never heard anything like the phrase, "motors inwardly," and the only Google result on the entire Internet is, "to thereby force the piston rods of these motors inwardly at a lower pressure," which obviously refers to something completely different: the piston rods are being forced inwardly.

Here are some mere guesses. If you could give a bit more context, it might help. Is anything else about the plant described? If you have absolutely no more context, maybe some of these will help someone else find a good translation. (Please forgive the "sub-minister" thing! In a bit of a hurry.)

sub-minister of motor interaction
sub-minister of motor interactions

sub-minister of interaction between motors
sub-minister of interaction between the motors

sub-minister of motors' interaction
sub-minister of the motors' interaction

sub-minister of the interaction of the plant's motors
sub-minister of the interaction of the motors
sub-minister of interaction of motors

sub-minister of the motors between themselves

sub-minister of the motors in and among themselves

inter-motor sub-minister

It is almost impossible to imagine how "inwardly" could make sense in this context. I do think it is our responsibility to point these things out, for the sake of the glossary. No disrespect to our answering colleague.
