Spanish term

categorías

Spanish to English Marketing Automotive / Cars & Trucks sponsorship of automobile events
The context is:

"Negociar con las categorías, equipos de competición y terminales automotrices."

It is part of a job description for a Head of Corporate Marketing of an oil company.

I can think of 3 possible explanations:
1/ automobile categories, in which case the sentence would have to be adapted, to something like "those in charge of automobile racing categories". It seems a bit vague to me.
2/ racing events (as in particular types of event).
3/ professionals (as in those of high standing in the automotive field). This is a stretch of the usage of "categoría" that I am familiar with, but if anyone knows of it being used in this context, please let me know...

Many thanks in advance,

Cath.

(those in charge of )automobile racing categories

There are different levels or "categories" of racing, Formula 1, 2, etc...
It's not vague, just a very colloquial way of expressing it, which might not sit well in a written text.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I have used "race organisers" - thanks v much :) Btw, it was my translation: "those in charge of racing categories" that I was referring to as vague, albeit not very clearly. All the best, Cath."
