what is the preferred US spelling of metre/meter. Certainly in the UK "meter" is solely a device for measuring, while all my US dictionaires offer me both "meter" and "metre" as the unit of measurement .
Proposed translations
(inglés)

: Yes, we like to end words in "-er" rather than "-re" - definitely not metre/kilometre! (US dictionaries often include UK spellings, though)

You may prefer to wait for an answer from a native US English speaker (I speak UK English myself), but note that if you select US English spellchecker in MS Word, "metre" and "kilometre" are marked as errors.
Note from asker:
O tied that - kilometre is marked as incorrect, but metre isn't. And meter has another meaning! |
or rather... I tried that...! |
Many thanks, Jack |
