: on a medical point of view this is wrong. period. It does not mean that it has not been used in the past as a generic term. Aids patients die from several different infections, so your example with smallpox etc is not valid + it is "candidat vaccin"

it's not wrong, it's merely less precise. Smallpox vaccine, meningitis vaccine, etc. If they wanted it said that way, it would have been anti-HIV vaccine in English, non?
