I'm not familiar with the exact definition of 'coach' in this context, but I know the EN word is also used in FR; I think it is sort of somehow whoe does a bit of hand-holding, follows someone up, etc., whereas a 'trainer' is simply someone who gives training courses — hence 'formateur' here rather than 'entraîneur'!

: I don't think any athletes (from my personal experience) would appreciate having their coach hold their hands, Tony - but I agree with the distinction you make ! / I was joking about the handholding but otherwise you're correct, I think :)

Thanks, Michael! 'coach' seems to imply some kind of counselling / support rôle, from what I've been able to see.
