English term

pressure drop

English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering floordrain tests
Back water protection when drainage system is blocked: The floordrain withstands backup water pressure of up to 0.8 bar (+8 meters) without any pressure drop being detectable

Can somebody help explain what "pressure drop" here really mean in plain English?

Thank you in advance!

reduction in pressure

For example, if water is running along a pipe, entering one end with high pressure and leaving the other end with a lower pressure, a "pressure drop" is present.

In this case, the water is at the same pressure when it enters the drain as when it leaves it - thus no "pressure drop being detectable. I hope this helps!

fall in pressure

Or you could say decrease in pressure, it comes to the same thing.
The pressure in the floor drain remains at 0.8 bars without falling below that to any detectable extent.

Thank you. Where did you find that? In my profile samples? There are a few mor of my translations of Vysotsky's lyrics at http://www.kulichki.com/vv/eng/songs/doughty.html
agree Phong Le : supposed that you install a pressure gauge to the pipe of the floordrain and then provide backup water to 0.8bar and stop. After few hours, the pressure gauge indicates the same value at 0.8bar without any change to lower value, meaning no any leak of wat
